Countryside Cooperative is very proud to offer up to twenty $500 scholarships throughout our trade area.
Attention Seniors: If you are a son or daughter of a voting member of Countryside Cooperative, you can apply for a $500 Scholarship. Preference is given, but not limited to, those pursing an ag-related career.
What makes me eligible to apply for this Cooperative Scholarship? The high school senior applicants must be a son or daughter or have a guardian who is a Voting member/ producer of Countryside Coop. To gain voting membership, producers need to have purchased at least $1000.00 of Ag based products, - Feed, Agronomy, Seed, LP for corn dryers and etc, for their agricultural operation in a calendar year. Voting member/ producer shall mean and include persons (natural or corporate) actually engaged ("at risk") in the production of any one or more agricultural products including tenants of land used for the production of any such product, and lessors of such land who received as rent therefore part of any such product of such land, and cooperative associations (corporate or otherwise) of such producers. Our Board of Directors must approve all voting memberships.
The following information MUST to included on a separate piece of paper when applying for our Scholarship:
*** How has your involvement in agriculture and agricultural related activities impacted your future career goals? Also in your essay it should include why Cooperatives are important to both the future of Agricultural and to our Community. (Max. 1 page) 10 point value.
*** List of your extra-curricular school activities. 10 point value.
*** List of your activities outside of school with special mention of those featuring community involvement. 10 point value.
*** Copy of your High School Transcript. 5 point value.
*** At least two letters of personal reference for the applicant- one “academic” and the other “character” based. (Authors cannot be relatives) These letters should include the author’s observations and perspectives regarding the applicant’s cooperation, initiative, judgment, common sense, leadership, persona, reliability and attitude. 5 point value.
*** Preference is given, but not limited to those pursuing an ag-related career. 10 point value.
IMPORTANT: If any of the above information is missing - points will be deducted accordingly. Please keep in mind a total of 50 points could be earned and awarded!
Who selects the winners? We have been overwhelmed at the number of outstanding applications we receive annually. We wish we could award a scholarship to every applicant, but we will be awarding up to twenty awards.
Our 2010 Scholarship Committee consists of Voting members (Gary & Marlys Seipel - Eau Galle; Anita Patnode - Arkansaw; & Adam Majeske - Balsam Lake and selected Board members - Larry Kuhl - Amery & Ken Gabler - Augusta. Interested in applying? To apply for our scholarship, please submit an application form. Please include a wallet size picture of yourself for publication of the winners. When submitting your picture, you grant full unconditional permission to Countryside Coop to use this photo in all promotional materials associated with their Scholarship process. Scholarship awards will be paid directly to the winner's Post Secondary College or University upon completion of the first semester of post-secondary studies and proof of enrollment in 2nd semester. Proof of enrollment, along with your College address must to sent to Carole Jean at the Durand Business Office.
